Creating a More Accessible and Flexible Church Space for 2026

For many years our church family has prayerfully discussed the removal of the pews. With the growing range of activities we host, it has become increasingly clear that we need a more flexible, safe, and fully disability-compliant space. Creating this adaptable layout will also allow us to improve disabled access into the church and develop a peaceful, outdoor contemplative seating area.

As part of this project, our ageing audio-visual system will be replaced with updated equipment, helping us communicate more clearly and making services more accessible — especially for those with hearing difficulties.

The total cost of these developments is anticipated to be around £65,000. Applications to grant-making bodies are ongoing, alongside fundraising activities and a Church Gift Day. We are delighted to share that grants totaling £48,000 have already been awarded. We are deeply grateful to the Telford Methodist Circuit, the Midlands Methodist District, Shropshire Historic Churches, and The Benefact Trust for their generous donations.

Work has now begun on the removal of the pews, and we will continue to keep the church community updated as progress is made throughout the year.
