The Little Church with an Even Bigger Welcome

Admaston Methodist Church, known locally as the little church with the big welcome, has undergone a transformation to extend that welcome to even more people and a wider range of events.

The small chapel in the village of Admaston has served as a place of worship and community gathering for more than 150 years. However, the church family felt that changes were needed to make the building more accessible and more flexible in how it is used.

Church members have worked hard alongside qualified tradespeople to remove pews, install central heating, redecorate, and recarpet the church. Alongside updated audio-visual equipment, these improvements will provide opportunities for the church to host a wider range of services, activities, and community events.

Further Improvements Planned

Planning permission has now been granted for additional improvements to the church grounds. A new access ramp at the front of the church will provide easier access for wheelchair users and families with pushchairs. Landscaping work is also planned at the side of the building to create a more welcoming and attractive environment.

Community Support

A number of organisations have generously contributed towards the project, including Shropshire Historic Churches, The Benefact Trust, the Methodist District and Circuit, Wellington Rotary, and Wrockwardine Parish Council. Church funds have also been used, alongside generous donations from church members.

We look forward to holding a special service later in the year to celebrate all that has been achieved.
